High School Preparation For Pharmacy

There could be a lot of things you should consider when choosing a career as a pharmacy technician. Individuals will need a good basic standard of education and a genuine interest in Medicine. Becoming a pharmacy technician may take less time than you think, and could lead to a long and fulfilling career in the pharmaceutical field. Your skills should enable you to work in doctor's offices, clinics and hospitals in a career that is among the fastest-growing and tops in demand today. A pharmacy tech career is often the most admired career of the world. As an employee you must be registered. Careers are in retail pharmacies, either independently owned or part of a drugstore chain, grocery store, department store, or mass retailer.

Becoming a pharmacist only takes two years of study, but a lifetime commitment. You must graduate form an accredited college or pharmacy school and then pass a state examination to get your license. A license is required in all states and the Disctrict of Columbia. This is followed by an internship with an existing licensed pharmacist. You may continue in medical school to get either a minor in Chemistry or a major in Biology. To prepare for a career as a pharmacist you should have the following high school background courses.

FRESHMAN YEAR - Math - Algebra, English - English, Science - Physical Science, Social Sciences/Humanities - (Per school requirements)

SOPHMORE YEAR - Math - Geometry, English - English, Science - Biology or Chemistry, Social Sciences/Humanities - Psychology

JUNIOR YEAR - Math - Calculus, English - English Applied Communications, Science - Chemistry or Applied Biology, Social Sciences/Humanities - Sociology

SENIOR YEAR - Math - Probability & Statistics, English - English Applied Communications, Science - Anatomy, AP Biology, Physics, Social Sciences/Humanities - Government & Economics

These courses are just part of what you will study in pharmacy. Additional courses in anatomy, physics, chemistry, calculus, organic chemistry, physiology, general biology, phamacology, analytical chemistry, statistics, physical chemistry, giological chemistry, medininal chemistry, pharmaceutics adn microbiology must also be taken in college.

A pharmacy tech career is that one can choose from a lot of activities in the field that offer flexible time and some days per week to work and great payment. As an employee a two-year expanded pharmacy technician program is available which includes general education. Those interested in a pharmacy technician career will need a good basic standard of education and a genuine interest in Medicine. This career path requires candidates to have strong critical thinking, mathematical and English communication skills.
