Brevard County public criminal records serve as the central register of police. Most of the time, the information that they contain only involves prison punishments, or incidents of a crime where the result is imprisonment for a certain period of time. How Brevard County Public Criminal Records are established
There are several ways in which Brevard County public criminal records may be established. However, one must remember that an arrest almost always leads to a criminal record, unless the record be expunged or sealed by the court via its inherent judicial power.
Brevard County public criminal records may be established even when sentence is suspended or the judge rules that the offender be given an unconditional sentence of imprisonment. This often happens when, unless a minimum punishment is prescribed by law, the court has the power to suspend the passing of sentence. Generally, suspension of sentence stretches for a period of three years at most, during which time the offender is placed on probation. A suspended sentence means that it is only the sentence that has been suspended and not the punishment itself. Eventually, the sentence will have to be passed. Suspended sentences are included in Brevard County public criminal records.
Another way by which Brevard County public criminal records may be established is through community service. This type of sentencing is used as an alternative sentencing technique in the justice system. So instead of convicting the individual to spend time in jail, he or she is sentenced to render service to the community.
